DESCRIPTION
The module deals with the essential issue of accessible lifts in residential properties. It aims to provide delegates with the skills and knowledge needed in order to carry out assessments and provide appropriate recommendations for people with mobility impairments who experience difficulty in overcoming changes of level within their environment.
ON COMPLETION, ATTENDEES SHOULD
- be able to assess client considerations and discuss how these affect lift choice / design
- be aware of the key principles and design criteria relating to lifts
- have an overview of key space standards regarding approach routes and siting of lifts
- be aware of the types of lifts available, understand the differences between them, and feel confident specifying for individual users • understand some structural and technical issues relating to accessible lifts
