Description
We welcome attendance from all parts of the UK (and beyond). Please note however, design standards and regulations referenced in Viva Access courses are primarily England orientated.
This course focuses on Adaptation issues for wheelchair users.
Topics covered include:

Where do space standards come from?

Approaches to initial visit / initial assessment

Introduction to key wheelchair standards

Assessing individual wheelchair users for door openings & turning circles (spaces)

Introduction to Part M (and equivalent) of Building Regulations

Group casework (case study)

Signposting to useful resources
The training is delivered via presentation, casework, video demonstrations and group discussion.
Please note, there is a 'sister' course to this one, entitled "Designing for Wheelchair Users". In Designing for Wheelchair Users, the focus is on generic wheelchair design standards and on new-build wheelchair housing.
Both courses are stand-alone.
