Description
This stand-alone module is aimed at those who have experience already working with Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) and/or who have completed DFG: Part 1. It builds on the essentials covered in Part 1 and looks in depth at a range of additional issues, such as ‘top-ups’, land charges, joint custody arrangements, DFGs for common parts, appealing decisions and much more. A number of complex case scenarios will be presented for review and discussion. The webinar will end with a Q&A between attendees and presenters (Grants Officer and OT) and signposting to further resources.
- DFG Review 2018 – overview of the review and summary of its implications for adaptation work
- Discretionary funding and The Care Act and Better Care fund
- The Regulatory Reform Order in depth, including ‘Land Charges’, ‘Top-ups’ and assistance with ‘Moving Costs’
- DFGs for Common Parts, Foster Care and Joint Custody arrangements
- Issues relating to ‘Capacity’ (who decides?)
- The legislation (Housing Grants Construction & Regeneration Act, 1996) versus Local Policy and Blanket policies (Fettering Discretion)
- Appealing decisions – including review of Local Government Ombudsman and recent judgements (including LB Islington case regarding DFG and tenure)
- The future for DFGs
- Useful resources – useful publications, organisations and websites
