Module – Ramps for wheelchair users: assessment & design
Description
This module deals with the essential issue of ramping and aims to provide delegates with the skills and knowledge needed in order to provide appropriate recommendations for people who experience difficulty in overcoming changes of level within their environment. The webinar will cover:
- client & carer considerations when assessing for ramps
- different ramp types: portable, threshold, temporary (modular) and permanent
- key design principles e.g. lengths, widths, slopes, landing platforms, up-stands, safety issues and users with visual impairment
- specifying ramp gradients
- specifying handrails
- some technical issues relating to installation of permanent ramps
