Recommendations for attending Zoom-based training
Equipment
Use a computer or laptop if possible i.e. a device with a reasonably large screen.
This will enhance your viewing experience. Additionally, computers/laptops tend to have greater zoom functionality than mobile phones/tablets/iPads e.g. annotation tools, raise hand tools etc
Wear earphones or headphones, with integral mic if possible
This will enhance your audio experience e.g. you’ll be able to hear both trainers and delegates more clearly than by simply using the computer/laptop speakers. NB: most earphones now have inbuilt mics e.g. for taking phone calls on mobiles etc
Internet Connection
Ensure (as far as practicable) that you have strong wifi signal or (preferably) direct connection to your router via Ethernet cable.
Ethernet cables are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased in most computer or electrical shops or online e.g. via Amazon
For reasonable quality Zoom sessions (with video & chat), we recommend you have internet service speeds of 10 to 25 Mbps download speed range and at least 3 Mbps upload speeds.
You can test your internet speed at a number of sites, including the ones listed below. Please note, if your internet service does not meet these recommendations, you can still attend zoom sessions but may possibly experience connection issues during the training.
Access to Zoom
ZOOM TEST SITE: zoom.us/test
The above Free Test Site is useful as it enables you to check that you can access zoom in general and also allows you to check your audio, video etc.
Browser or Zoom App
Whilst it is preferable to download the Zoom app to your computer/laptop, it is perfectly possible to join Zoom sessions from your browser instead. This might apply if your workplace does not permit the Zoom app to be downloaded onto their devices.
